ruby barker was my hubby's
maternal grandmother....
right after i opened fannie rose
which ...again...was
named after *my* two grandmothers..
my dear mil scrounged around
in her attic and came up w/her
mother's wedding dress...
it was stained and matted and somewhat
of a mess...
i soaked it..sunned it....soaked it and
sunned it again and again...and, it came
out perfectly....
i had it on the dress form for a very long time but
then decided i should keep it out of the sunlight
so the threads would stay strong...
so it is now packed away with many of
my other vintage dresses......
this reminds me that i should get some pictures taken
of all of them..too....

it was all hand sewn...
the waist measures about 18 inches...tiny
tiny people in those days....
pintucks ...inset lace...eyelet....
teeny tiny little buttons secure the back along w/some teeny tiny hooks and eyes
at the waistline....
a real work of art.....
ruby's sisters' names...were..
lily..pearl...diamond....what
a hoot......!
well..whatever the names...i am so
very thankful to have this dress...
ruby ruby ruby...will you be mine?
appropos, no?
just realizing that dion dimucci gave me lots of inspiration...
first runaround sue...and, now...
i'll have to leave him a thank you
on facebook....
if you click on the song names..you will
be able hear him sing the songs..
ain't technology grand?
