FEAR

HATE FEAR/FEAR HATE

REAL

"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

this day in history.....

i'm sure you're like...well...of course..we
know what day this is...

this is president's day.....

and...you are so right....

but in my personal life....this day
in history is the day i had my
first date with my hubby 41 years
ago...can you imagine???  a whole
lifetime .........

it's been a ride...with the
usual bumps along the way...
along with some unusual
bumps thrown in....real life!

here we are on our wedding day 1 1/2 years later.... 1971...

and.... celebrating our 38th anniversary
this past september...

to celebrate our combined *first date* and
valentine's day...hubby took me to
taken for granite in stony creek...

a pink granite pumpkin greets you as you arrive
at the shop......

pink granite is abundant in this area and
has been used for lots of famous
buildings ... grant's tomb...the
base of the statue of liberty...
the post office at grand central
station....
and..west point monument ..to
name just a few...

i moseyed inside and came home with a couple
of things to commemorate the day...

being that this has been denoted the *year of the digit*
by jeanne d'arc living...i had to get this super
digit *7*... my favorite number...

and, a faux moss orb to sit in the
middle of my candle holders in the
dining room...

now..mind you..i could have bought
a whole lot more but as i lovingly call
taken for granite ..*taken for all your money*..
i thought i would save some funds for
my next visit...

if you are ever in the area of stony creek, ct..
a charming little section of branford...make
sure you stop by this shop..the displays
are breathtaking along with the
merchandise....

and, while there, make sure you check out
the thimble islands..there's a great little
tour boat that takes you
around explaining the
ins and outs of all the islands...

so..enjoy your presidents' day in
a  monumental way...

be well...

warmly..........susan
